About
I grew up in a large family–many siblings. I spent 23 years in the U.S. Navy as an administrator and trainer. I Spent a few years in the corporate world and now have a nice simple management job in the storage industry. What more could an old guy want?
So, I started 1st Class Document Services — mainly as a photo and document scanning business. I scan photos and documents, put them on discs or dvd’s. Think about it: you’ve got that box of photos or letters from Auntie M sitting in the closet, attic, basement or drawer. You don’t think about them until family reunion time. And then, there’s a fire, a tornado, a flood or hurricane — what’s the first thing most everyone goes for besides the children and grandma? Yep, the family photos.
Recently, however, a couple of people in the family brought their books to my attention and I thought, hmmmm… I’ll bet I could learn how to self-publish and put these on Amazon Kindle. Two books later and I’m trying my hand at print on demand. Those should be available as soon as I figure out the covers for Create Space publishing.
I plan on continuing this endeavor for regular, everyday folks like me–I wasn’t trained in literary arts and most everyone I know wasn’t either, but I still feel each of us has something to say. It may be in the form of a book, a story or a blog but as long as someone will be willing to listen…
From time to time, I may have a bit more to say or comments on different things in the universe — hopefully, they’ll be worth your (re)viewing. Your non-hatin’, clean-language, tolerant of “all” points of view will be welcome.
That’s it in a nutshell — hope you’re not allergic to nuts. 😉
Jay
Well, it appears that my site has become more personal, a bit encouraging and certainly observational perspective, with just a hint of my side business. It’s all good.
Thanks for stopping by.

Jay this is a wonderful post. It was nice of you to share your story with me. It encourages me to know that I’m not alone in the “how to” phase of my writings. A techie I’m not but I am trying very hard to learn.

I can only thank you for your generosity in nominating me for the Liebster Award. I hope that you will understand my unwillingness to participate in awards because awards are not my goal–your appreciation and kindness if my writing or support is truly my award.

Thanks for liking my father’s watercolours. I often forget I’ve put them on my blog, so it was good to know that someone looks at them. Thanks also for your comment on WordPress this morning about the post Love Wins. I wrote a comment, too, objecting to what they did to our blogs on the weekend, but it isn’t appearing. I’m suspicious.
Thanks for telling us about the work you’re doing with digital books.

To date, I have not had any mail clients but I would be open to discussion. Most everyone has been local or family. Holler at me when you’re ready and we’ll discuss the logistics.

Following your stories are enjoyable to say the least. After many years of traveling the world, I find peace and comfort in settling down now and living a calm life. For the first time I have been growing roots–feels good. Your stories are personal, intriguing and interesting and greatly appreciated from a former traveler. Please, continue… 😀

Hey, I’m really glad you’re enjoying them .
I know what you mean about growing roots. I LOVE to travel, but I really like having a home base too. I wish I wasn’t so upset about all that’s been happening in the US, but it just drives me crazy. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to have any peace as long as I have to live there. It makes me sad. I would like to put down some roots, get more involved with my community, but because I’m gone so much with work and travel, it just hasn’t worked out.
Maybe getting laid off is going to be the final kick in the ass I need to get out? Puerto Vallarta has been really wonderful. I can see myself living somewhere like this.
I’m just still not sure about the finances. I still can’t see myself making a living as a teacher. I’m at the stage where I want to slow down. Have a more stress free life. Teaching has been a lot harder than I thought it would be, certainly not stress free. And the amount of time it takes up is something else too!
I’m glad I’m getting the certificate, it’s a good thing to have in the skills bag, but I would still much rather be sailing! I think I need to try harder to find a yacht that needs crew. 😉
I just keep hoping the price of oil will go up so I can go back to work before I’m completely bankrupt!

Peace–that’s why I switched my studies from business to Christian ministry. My cousin and his wife are worldwide teachers. They travel the world in different cities teaching English, a year here and a year there. They’re children are getting the education of a life time. Crew on a yacht, that sounds rewarding, as well. Fair winds and following seas. You are in my prayers for the correct path to be known to you. 😀

sounds like your cousins family has a good lifestyle. I would be doing that too, but I got myself caught up in the whole debt thing and now I have too many bills to pay. I’m trying to downsize, but it will take some time. I’ve been making progress, but it’s been slow
